Special Programs in Health Science: Highly qualified, selected students may be considered for either of the following special programs upon invitation by the Admissions Committee.
"3+2" Program leading to a Master of Health Science/Physician Assistant in Rural Primary Care:
A compressed schedule of undergraduate classes, including summer work, enables students accepted in this program to transition into the graduate program at the end of their junior year. Successful students are then granted a BS in Health Science at the end of the fall semester of their fourth year and a Master's degree at the end of the two-year graduate program, in a total of five years.

A compressed schedule of undergraduate classes, including summer work, enables students accepted in this program to transition directly into a Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Widener University at the end of their junior (3rd) year. Upon completion of the first year of graduate study at Widener, students are awarded a BS in Health Science from Lock Haven University and progress to a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Widener after two additional years, a total of six years.Incoming students will be carefully screened by the Lock Haven University Admissions Department to assure that students have demonstrated a level of academic ability and achievement to assure a reasonable chance of success in a very concentrated, rigorous and demanding academic and profession program. Students will attend Lock University for 3 years and move directly into a three-year professional education program leading to a doctorate in physical therapy at Widener. The first year of the profesional program at Widener will be reviewed and accepted in accordance with existing transfer policies to complete the requirements for a B.S. in Health Science degree at Lock Haven University. A minimum GPA of 3.0 will be required for transition to Widener. It is anticipated that the program would initially be limited to 5 students per class.
