Surgical Technology - Associate in Science and Certificate
Tracks
The Surgical Technology tracks are offered through
the Clearfield Campus. Working in the operating room is fast-paced
and exciting. Surgical Technologists are members of the sterile
surgical team who prepare and maintain the sterile field during
a surgical procedure. Surgical Technology is listed as one of the
top healthcare areas for growth and demand during the next ten years.
The need for Certified Surgical Technologists far exceeds the supply,
as the Operating Room continues to develop and use cutting-edge
technology to improve the surgical outcome for our patients.
The program is available as a 24-month Associate in
Science degree or 12 month certificate option in Surgical Technology.
Both options are also available as distance education offerings,
but do require a limited period of residency on campus. Graduates
of this CAAHEP accredited program are eligible to take the NBSTSA
® National Certification Exam in Surgical Technology to become
a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
