Faculty of the Year Award

The Global Honors Program Committee
The Honors Committee
shall oversee and evaluate program operations of the
Honors Program. Five members of the faculty shall be
elected by the faculty for overlapping two-year terms.
There will be one member from each of the three areas
[humanities, social sciences and natural sciences] in
Arts & Sciences and two members from Education & Human
Services.
Some responsibilities
of the Honors Committee:
- to
consider and recommend to the Curriculum
Committee changes in program policies
- to consider
all syllabi for proposed Honors courses
forwarded by departments and recommend to the
appropriate college council.
- to work with
the Director of the Honors Program in the
recruitment and selection of faculty and
specific course offerings, in the observation
and evaluation of courses, in the recruitment
and selection of students, in the planning of
activities, and in the evaluation of the
program.

I & II, Chemistry of Nutrition, Introduction to Organic
Chemistry, Organic Chemistry
Professional Interests: My
research interests include chemistry of art,
kinetic studies of various biochemical enzymes, and a
variety of bionanoscience projects, including nano-targeted
delivery systems. The latter project involves liposomes,
nanometer sized biological vesicles that can cross the
blood-brain barrier. Liposmes can also be "tagged" to
target a specific type of cell and therefore are useful
carriers for delivery of drugs or imaging agents to
a targeted area of the body. Also, I am involved in
several professional organizations including the
American Chemical Society, AAUW, and Phi Kappa Phi. I
have served as advisor of Phi Sigma Pi for 8+ years and
have served as co-advisor for LHU's Chemistry and
Nanotechnology Club.
Personal Interests: I
am a member of two choirs and a church cantor. I also
love camping and canoeing. Last year, I tried kayaking
for the first time and enjoyed it very much. I am
actively involved in the community and serve as
secretary of the service organization, Fraternal Order
of Eagles.

Interests: My primary areas of
interest in philosophy include metaphysics, idealism,
pragmatism, and questions involving the intersection of
ethics, politics and culture. I am active in several
scholarly associations such as the American
Philosophical Association and the Canadian Philosophical
Association. In addition, it is my honor to hold
leadership positions in two wonderful organizations: I
am the Director of the LHU Global Honors Program and
Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Canadian Studies
Consortium.
Personal
Interests: I love the outdoors. In the summer I am
an avid cyclist and kayaker. In the winter I try to get
out to ski hills near and far as often as possible.

Goals For Honors:
I would love to see our website completely
functional and convenient to use for all of our
audiences. Also, I am excited to get our alumni more
involved in the Global Honors Program again. I hope that
we continue to grow, adapt to the ever changing campus
and students within the program, and continue to
challenge students to work harder, while preparing them
with hands on experiences for the "real world".
Best Part About Being The Graduate Assistant: I'm
still here! I had the opportunity to graduate from the
Global Honors Program, and now get to watch as it
continues to evolve. It's awesome to still be a part of
all that.
Personal
Interests: Watching movies. Reading. Writing poetry.
Drawing. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Going to the
beach or hiking through the woods. Making smores and
mountain pies over a bonfire.
