What Our Students Have to Say

Are your parents or teachers urging you to apply to the Global Honors Program? Do you feel it might be more than you want to take on? At Lock Haven, we encourage you to put those concerns aside… at least temporarily. Go ahead and apply. Just by applying you will have the chance to interact with our Honors students and find out a lot more about all that our program has to offer. We will review your application and make you an offer. Then you can decide what’s right for you.

It’s hard to find words that express my shear gratitude for what the Lock Haven Global Honors Program has given me. Like most incoming freshman, I was hesitant about joining the program; I thought it would be far too challenging, especially with just starting out in college. Fortunately, I turned out to be extremely wrong! The honors program has been a wonderful experience and given me so many opportunities. I really feel that my leadership skills have improved and so many of my friends are from honors. The question is not “Why would you want to be in honors?” but “How can you pass up such a rewarding opportunity?

-Laura Clouser, Junior

The Global Honors Program has given me the privilege to call myself not just an LHU Student, but rather an LHU Honors Student. The program has given me a group of friends I never thought I would have when I arrived in August of my freshmen year. It has also given me the courage to enjoy myself more and has made me a better student, friend, and well-rounded person. The beginning of my freshmen year was not worth while until I got more involved with honors. Without my involvement in the Honors Program there would not have been a reason for me to stay at Lock Haven. I've made a whole new family here in Lock Haven with all the honors students. I'd recommend this program to anyone I know, I can definitely say the Honors Program is my haven.

When I first received information about the LHU Global Honors Program, I didn’t want anything to do with it. I was afraid of the title. How was I going to be able to do Honors work on top of all of my other class work? I thought that I wasn’t going to have enough time and that Honors in college was going to be so much harder than Honors classes in high school were. Well I was completely wrong! When I graduate from LHU many of my fondest memories will be of the Honors Program, the friends I have made through it, and all of the things I was able to participate in that I otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do so.   We are a one-of-a-kind program which is why we have so much fun and are such a successful group! Give it a try!

My mom was right again. She encouraged me to be in the LHU Global Honors Program, and I cannot thank her enough! My college experience would not be the same without the program and the friends I have made within the program! The LHUGHP has helped me grow academically through honors classes, speakers and conferences, as well as personally by participating in leadership opportunities and volunteer work. My favorite aspect of the program is how well-rounded it is, allowing students to be challenged academically while also being able to enjoy themselves socially. After graduation I will definitely miss the Global Honors Program!

Being involved in the Global Honors Program has been one of the best experiences during my time at Lock Haven University. As a member of the GHP, I have not just been challenged academically, but also been presented with many awesome opportunities. When I entered the GHP as a freshman, I was shy and not really sure how I felt about college. I figured I'd give Honors a try and see how it went. Four years ago, I never could have imagined how much the Honors Program has factored into my success in college. Through the GHP, I have made lasting relationships, taken on leadership roles and even traveled to Egypt, something I never would have had the opportunity to do otherwise. I have grown not only academically, but personally and without the opportunities and experience I gained through the Honors Program I would not feel as confident in myself as I do now as I get ready to graduate.
