Important information for applicants for Fall 2009 matriculation

Entering first-year students on the main campus may either apply to the University Honors Program or to the First Year Excellence Program.

DEADLINES

University Honors – Early Decision: December 5, 2008   Applications received by the deadline will be reviewed and announcements of acceptance will be mailed by December 22, 2008.  While early acceptance or rejection of our admission and scholarship offers will be appreciated, we will honor requests to delay final decisions until May 1, 2009.

University Honors – Regular Decision: April 17, 2009   Applications received by the deadline will be reviewed and announcements of acceptance will be mailed by May 1, 2009.  For those who have submitted federal financial aid forms in a timely fashion, we expect to include all financial aid information in this mailing.  Responses will be required by May 15, 2009.

First Year Excellence: Applications are considered as received and until the class is full, usually no earlier than April 15th.

NOTE:  Application to the University Honors Program is separate from application to the University.  Be sure to submit a Lock Haven University application to the Office of Admissions.

LOCK HAVEN UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants to the University Honors Program are automatically considered for merit scholarships; no additional application for scholarships is necessary.  As many as one half of these scholarships will be offered to those applying by the Early Decision deadline.

·         PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS of $2000 ($1000 per semester).  These scholarships are renewable for up to four full years.  Maintaining the scholarship requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the end of the first year and 3.2 at the end of the second year and thereafter as well as continuation in the University Honors Program.

·         ACADEMIC HONORS SCHOLARSHIPS of $2000 ($1000 per semester).  These are one-year scholarships.  In succeeding years, $1000 Academic Honors Scholarships will be awarded to those honors students with the highest grade point averages.
