2009-10 Room/Apartment Selection Process
It is the responsibility
of each returning student to follow the below listed procedures to be guaranteed a
space in LHUP on-campus residence halls – including Campus Village. There are three easy to follow steps to the Room Selection Process:
To begin the Room/Apartment Selection Process, a $100.00 housing deposit must be paid. This deposit may be paid in 2 ways: 1) Pre-paid before February 11, 2009 by credit card online at LHUP Secure Bill Pay (Pay Your Student Bill Online. Please select Fall 2009 Housing Deposit from the drop down menu. Please print the confirmation of payment as you will need to bring it with you to the 2nd part of the Room/Apartment Selection Process. Pre-paying online is the preferred method of Housing Deposit payment.
2) Paid
at step #2 of the Room/Apartment Selection Process (February 11th
or 12th) by cash, check or Housing deposits will not be accepted after February 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. For additional information concerning the remainder of the process, please refer to the 2009-10 Academic Year Room/Apartment Selection Process memo dated January 12, 2009. All questions about this process or the Housing and Food Service License Agreement must be directed to a Student Life Professional Staff member (Resident Director) or the Student Life/Housing Office, 308 Sullivan Hall, 484-2317
Step #2 This step in the process takes place on both February 11th and February 12th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in PUB Meeting Room # 4. During this step in the process the student will fill out and sign the Housing & Food Service License Agreement, pay the deposit, if they didn't already pay online, and pick a lottery number. February 11th is for students with the last number in their student identification number being an odd number, February 12th is for students with the last number in their student identification number being an even number.
Step #3 Lottery numbers picked in Step #2 will determine the room selection time for each day. When roommates (or one roommate with both agreements) enter the selection room, they will be able to pick from rooms that are not filled or reserved. If all available rooms are filled in your hall when your lottery number is called on the first selection night, you will be encouraged to return to the second selection day. When your lottery number is called on the second selection day, you (and your roommate or one roommate with both agreements) will be able to sign-up for any remaining, non-reserved housing spaces. Sign-ups will continue on the second day until all non-reserved spaces are used.
February 20th 9 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Room sign-ups for rooms across campus will be held in PUB meeting room #4. You must have your Housing and Food Service License Agreement with you at this time. All remaining non reserved spaces will be available. Rules for Step #3 1. You must have already paid the $100 Housing Deposit. 2. You (or person selecting for you) must have yellow copies of the 2009-10 Housing & Food Service License Agreement (Lottery # is located in the right hand corner of Agreement). 3. In order to choose a room you must have a roommate. If you do not have a roommate, you may only select a Single or a Hall (you will be assigned a room and roommate later). 4. You may only sign-up during or after your Lottery Number designation time.
5. Step #3 of the
Room/Apartment Selection Process (Room Sign-up) ends at 3:15 pm on
Friday, February 20, 2009. Inquiries after the ending time will be
placed on the Housing Wait List.
Additional Information: 1. Deposit can be pre-paid online by February 11, 2009 OR Deposit can be paid at Step #2 after filling out the Housing & Food Service License Agreement and before choosing the lottery number. Pre-paying online is the preferred method of Housing Deposit payment. 2. Each student will receive a lottery number at the time that they fill out the Housing & Food Service License Agreement. You will have scheduled times for room sign-up. The roommate with the lower lottery number will determine the sign-up time. 3. If you follow the outlined 2009-10 Academic Year Room/Apartment Selection Process and do not have an identified roommate, you may only choose a hall. Roommates will be paired from the list of students who signed up without a roommate. 4. You may choose a hall and room if you have a roommate who also follows the outlined 2009-10 Academic Year Room/Apartment Selection Process. 5. In order to select a hall and room, only one of the roommate pair needs to be present, but he/she must have both student’s copies of the Housing and Food Service License Agreement. 6. There are a limited number of single spaces in Smith Hall and Campus Village that may be requested. 7. Your (or your roommate’s) lottery number will determine the time of room selection. If all available rooms are taken when your lottery number range is called, you may place your names on the Housing Waiting List for future available rooms. Adding your name to the Housing Waiting List does not guarantee that a space will come available. 8. Paying a deposit and filling out a Housing and Food Service License Agreement does not guarantee you a housing space. Should you not obtain a housing space, your $100 housing deposit will be credited to your student account or be refunded to you, or you may elect to keep your name on the Housing Waiting List. 9. There will be no room or roommate changes after the room selection occurs. The only way to change your status (room or roommate) is to put it in writing, at which time you may lose the hall or the room you chose. You will be placed in a room as space(s) become vacant over the Summer. 10. The Housing Office reserves the right to consolidate or move a student(s) depending on unforeseen circumstances. **All questions about the 2009-10 Academic Year Room/Apartment Selection Process or the Housing and Food Service License Agreement must be directed to a Student Life Professional Staff member (Resident Director) or to the Student Life/Housing Office, 308 Sullivan Hall, 484-2317.
