Dr. Fiorentino earned his Bachelor of Science degree in special education from Fitchburg State University in 1971. He has a Master of Education degree in special education from Boston University and a doctoral degree in educational administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He worked for a year as a special education teacher in the Needham, Massachusetts, public schools before joining the faculty of Fitchburg State University as an assistant professor of special education in 1974. Dr. Fiorentino was named Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs at Fitchburg State in 2009, where his duties included serving as the university’s chief operating officer and coordinator of all of its administrative functions. Prior to taking that post, he served five years as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the university, being responsible for the execution of educational policy and supervision of instructional staff and budgets. Prior to those leadership roles at Fitchburg State University, Dr. Fiorentino served as Associate Vice President and Executive Assistant to the President and as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Framingham State University. Dr. Fiorentino has extensive experience in international education and has worked with International American schools in Central and South America, Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, and the Mid-East. |
