The IIS organizes a wide
rage of activities every year to advance the
university’s mission in international
education. Included amongst these for
students a
re traditional semester and
full-year study abroad programs; five
faculty-led summer programs, and three short
term study experiences. International
Student Teaching placements are also
available for education majors at five
different sites.
LHU faculty can also take advantage of a
number of different international
opportunities. The most popular program is
the IIS Short Term Faculty Travel Grant
program. These provide faculty with airfare
to visit one of LHU’s partner universities
or to present a paper at an overseas
conference. Opportunities also exist for
faculty to complete either short-term or
semester-long exchange experiences at one of
LHU’s more than 30 partner universities
around the world.
The IIS also represents the ‘home’ for
many international students studying at LHU
for
either a semester or a degree period. At
any one time there are more than 100
international students on our campus. The
IIS works collaboratively with the
International Student Association to provide
interesting programming for the
international students on campus and to the
broader university community. The
International Friendship Program sponsored
by the IIS matches international students
with faculty and staff. The program seeks to
create mutually beneficial connections
between our international students and the
broader university community.
The backbone of LHU’s international
program rests on the relationships that it
maintains with 35 exchange partners in 21
different countries. Click on the name of
