The Philosophy Club aims to provide a forum for philosophy majors, minors, and anyone else interested in philosophy to discuss philosophy and related issues outside of the classroom setting. It seeks to encourage greater camaraderie and friendship among its participants. Possible activities include sponsoring speakers and events (along with, for example, the Ethics Center) for the greater university community, discussing particular articles or public events and debates, inviting guest professors for small group discussions, exploring options for graduate, law, or professional school, presenting our own work to one another, organizing trips to conferences, and planning social gatherings for its members. The membership should remain open to any interested with varying degrees of participation accepted. The group should be student-driven with a faculty member serving as final depository for archived materials (e.g., membership lists and emails) and responsible for initiating meetings at the beginning of each term.
