Course Description: An intermediate course in electricity and magnetism focusing on Maxwell’s equations and their properties. The course will concentrate on the concepts associated with electromagnetic fields and will introduce the mathematics used for their description.
GRADING: Tests 75%
  Homework 25%

Tests
There will 3 tests during the semester worth 25% each. The 3rd test will be given during finals week. There will not be a cumulative final exam. Format for the tests will be discussed in class. A review session will be scheduled outside class period before each test.
Homework

First Draft
The first draft is due one class after it is assigned unless otherwise stated by the instructor. You will be expected to first attempt the homework on your own, with help from other students and no help from faculty. The instructor may offer minimal help with such issues as clarifying questions, etc. Obtaining help from faculty other than the instructor will be considered cheating and will result in everyone in the class receiving zero credit

Second Draft
You will allowed to submit a second draft after reviewing your graded first draft. The second draft is due one class after the firsts graded draft is returned to the class, unless otherwise stated by the instructor. (If you miss class you are not expempt from this schedule.) You may get help from the instructor for the second draft.

Homework Grading
Homework problems will be worth 10 points each, unless otherwise stated by the instructor.

Grading Algorithm:
draft1 + (draft2 - draft1)*(0.7)

Example 1
1st draft score: of 7/10.
2nd dratt score: 9/10.
final score: 7 + (9-7)(0.7) = 8.4
Example 2
1st draft score: 0/10
2nd draft score: 9/10.
final score: 0 + (9-0)(0.7) = 6.3
Example 3
1st draft score: 2/10.
2nd draft score: 9/10.
final score: 2 + (9-2)(0.7) = 6.9
