========================================== DEMO Show for HOME Schoolers - 16-Feb-00 ========================================== There were about 30 kids and they seemed to have a great time. All demos worked, however we had several water spills, but had fun with it. Ken successfully swung the water around on the tray but when trying to answer a students question he got sidetracked and the tray caught his leg resulting in soda everywhere. Aimee and Nicole over shot the catch tray when using the PVC tube w/holes and again water went everywhere. Well you get the picture. We did a lot of mopping between demos. My obesrvations were that there wasn't much the kids didn't like. They laughed, wanted to join in (and we let them) and asked really good questions. I think we had a good time as well. ---------------------------------------- Phyclub members doing demos. ---------------------------- Andy Cleveland, Nicole Lavallee, Ken Marquardt, Aimee, Salisbury, Anura Goonewardene, John Reid, Jim Wheeler Demos done by the group with all children in the same room. 1. swinging water - glass of water on tray which is swung around 2. resonance - drill fixed to board with metal strips that wiggle in resonance with drill speed 3. bouncing marbles - bunch of marbles bouncing on series of rubber drums 4. collapsing can - heat can w/water - cool quickly and it collpases 5.
