Desperta Ferro 1 is the first in a series of ten sculptures depicting torsos constructed on anvils, miniaturized from a larger series (the Almogávares series) where the torsos were constructed from wood. Composed of only 11 bronze elements, Desperta Ferro 1 is one of the simplest puzzles in my Berrocal collection. But the heft and feel of each of its elements as well as the satisfying nature with which the elements interlock make this sculpture one of my favorites.
