- This seminar will examine the thesis that there is a cultural disconnect
between the sciences and the humanities and the impact of any such rift on
society as a whole. Attention will then turn to student lead discussions of
important people, theories, and paradigms in science and their impact on
society, history, and the world. Previous coursework in or a working
knowledge of world history, especially that of the 19th and 20th centuries,
will help students make these important interdisciplinary connections.
Participants in this seminar will improve their public speaking, critical
thinking, and rhetorical skills, in addition to expanding their knowledge of
science, in an interdisciplinary framework.
