Who is Dr. B?

Dr. Bean is Professor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Lock Haven University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in social psychology and organizational behavior.  He is an experienced leadership educator who is the originator of the Lock Haven University Leadership Studies Minor Program where students of any major take courses that develop their leadership skills and knowledge.  He adopts the model of leadership education that fosters skill development in the areas of leadership assertion, communication, empathy, conflict management, ethical thinking, and political influence strategies.  He is the author of numerous papers on leadership choice, social attitudes, and group identity with emphasis on the study of the foundations of ethnic identity, patriotism, regionalism, nationalism, multiculturalism, and internationalism.  He is the author of the textbook titled “Lessons in Leadership."  He has traveled to Bangladesh, Morocco, Mexico, and Tunisia with Drs. Zakir and Punnipa Hossain to give workshops on leadership development to University administrators and faculty at LHUP’s sister universities in those countries.   Dr. Bean likes to travel abroad, has an enduring interest in the collection of original art, loves photography and cooking, and likes to compose music.
