The Faculty Professional Development Committee (FPDC) at Lock
Haven University encourages professional development by awarding
faculty members with grants for a variety of development
opportunities, including travel to conferences to present
research, development of new research programs, and attendance
at workshops, to name just a few. We also work with LHU faculty
members to encourage application for grants from
PASSHE
The Committee awards three types of grants
- the Financial Support for Professional Presentation Grant
(also known as the Travel Grant), the Small Campus Grant, and
the Annual Campus Grant. More information on each type can be
found by clicking on the appropriate link to the left. Below is
a brief description of each, as well as application deadlines
and a link to more information.
The Financial Support for Professional
Presentation Grant, also known as the Travel Grant, provides
funding for faculty member to travel to conferences and present
their research.
An application for a
Travel Grant may be submitted at any time through the end of the
Spring Semester (April
24, 2009) or until funds are depleted.
Please use the
checklist provided for the
Professional Presentation Funding when
submitting an
application.
Please note, acceptance of a Financial Support for Professional Presentation
Grant obligates the faculty member to forward a
final report to the FPDC Report Tracker.
The Small Campus Grant
provides funding
for faculty members to begin typically smaller research projects
by requesting up to $500.
An application for a
Small Campus Grant may be submitted at any time through the end of the
Spring Semester (April
24, 2009) or until funds are depleted.
There are a total of 8 Small Campus
Grants available.
Please note, acceptance of a Small Campus
Grant obligates the faculty member to forward a
final report to the FPDC Report Tracker.
The Annual Campus Grant provides funding
for faculty members to have greater opportunities for professional
development in a variety of categories. There are a total of 8
Annual Campus Grants available. Two will be given at the early
fall deadline, three will be given at the late fall deadline,
and 3 will be given at the spring deadline. The application
deadlines for the Annual Campus Grants, which can include
requests for up to $1,500, are September 8, 2008, November 3, 2008 and March
27,
2009.
Please note, acceptance of an Annual Campus
Grant obligates the faculty member to forward a
final report to the FPDC Report Tracker.
When completing requesting funds for
travel, please use the GSA's website for
Per Diem Rates and/or
Mileage Rates.
Final reports are
required for each of these grants. Specific report requirements are given in each RFP,
which can be found by clicking on the link to the applicable
grant. All
recipients of LHU Faculty Professional Development Grants must
acknowledge "LHU Faculty Professional Development funds" as
a source of funding in any published work supported by these funds.
