LHU Faculty Professional Development Committee |
The Faculty Professional Development Committee (FPDC) at Lock Haven University encourages professional development by awarding faculty members with grants for a variety of development opportunities, including travel to conferences to present research, development of new research programs, and attendance at workshops, to name just a few. We also work with LHU faculty members to encourage application for grants from PASSHE.
The Committee awards three types of grants - the Financial Support for Professional Presentation Grant (also known as the Travel Grant), the Small Campus Grant, and the Annual Campus Grant. More information on each type can be found by clicking on the appropriate link to the left. Below is a brief description of each, as well as application deadlines and a link to more information. We are also currently able to offer a special grant, the Human Resources Grant. More information on this grant can be found here.
The Financial Support for Professional Presentation Grant, also known as the Travel Grant, provides funding for faculty member to travel to conferences and present their research. An application for a Travel Grant may be submitted at any time through the end of the Spring Semester or until funds are depleted. Please use the checklist provided for the Professional Presentation Funding when submitting an application. Please note, acceptance of a Financial Support for Professional Presentation Grant obligates the faculty member to forward a final report to the FPDC Report Tracker.
The Small Campus Grant provides funding for faculty members to begin typically smaller research projects by requesting up to $500. An application for a Small Campus Grant may be submitted at any time through the end of the Spring Semester or until funds are depleted. There are a total of 8 Small Campus Grants available. Please note, acceptance of a Small Campus Grant obligates the faculty member to forward a final report to the FPDC Report Tracker.
The Annual Campus Grant provides funding for faculty members to have greater opportunities for professional development in a variety of categories. There are a total of 8 Annual Campus Grants available. Two will be given at the early fall deadline, three will be given at the late fall deadline, and 3 will be given at the spring deadline. The application deadlines for the Annual Campus Grants, which can include requests for up to $1,500, are November 9, 2012, April 5, 2013, and September 13, 2013 . Please note, acceptance of an Annual Campus Grant obligates the faculty member to forward a final report to the FPDC Report Tracker.
When completing fund requests for travel, please use the GSA's website for Per Diem Rates and/or Mileage Rates. Final reports are required for each of these grants. Specific report requirements are given in each RFP, which can be found by clicking on the link to the applicable grant. All recipients of LHU Faculty Professional Development Grants must acknowledge "LHU Faculty Professional Development funds" as a source of funding in any published work supported by these funds.
