CAMPUS RESEARCH GRANTS
STATEMENT
OF PURPOSE: To
provide faculty doing research with up to $500 for necessary services,
travel and/or supplies/equipment.
Research projects may be individual or group-oriented, and may
be oriented toward development within the classroom, independent
research, and non-commercial exhibitions. Although projects designed
to enhance course content may apply, those requesting funding for
routine classroom activities or equipment will not be funded.
Funds may be requested for the faculty research portion of
joint faculty-student research projects.
Projects must have specific goals, and must plainly state the
types of faculty advancement which the use of these funds will
provide. All tenured and tenure-track faculty may apply for a maximum
of $500. Full-time
temporary faculty may apply for a maximum of $250.
Part-time temporary faculty are not eligible for Small Campus
Grants.
DEFINITIONS:
For the purpose of this grant, research services, travel and
supplies/equipment shall be defined as follows:
a.
Administrative, secretarial and computer services.
b.
Travel to specialized research facilities/locations.
c.
Special supplies and equipment.
All permanent supplies for classroom or research use shall be
considered the property of the University.
d.
Specialized book purchases which shall become part of the
University library collection.
e.
Payment of page charges for publication in professional
journals.
f.
Travel to discipline related workshops which provide new
knowledge and/or skills specifically related to the research project
may be included in the request.
g.
We will not support workshops for certification credit or
licensure.
POLICY:
Faculty may apply for a Small Campus Grant at any time during
the regular academic year (August to April).
Grant proposals will be considered in the order in which
they are received as funds allow.
A faculty member may not receive more than one Small Campus
Research Grant in any academic year.
Funding
must be utilized and accounted for in accordance with regular
University procedure.
Receipt
of a Small Campus Research Grant obligates a faculty member to submit
a brief written report within six months of the award describing how
funds were utilized and their contribution to either classroom usage
or the faculty member's independent research project.
If a report is not submitted, the faculty member will not be
eligible for any further grant funds provided by the LHU Faculty
Professional Development Committee.
