The Financial Support for Professional Presentation Grant, also known as the Travel Grant, was designed to encourage professional development through presentations. These funds may be used for travel expenses incurred by faculty members presenting juried papers and/or invited addresses at a national or international conference. Juried poster presentations may also qualify.

Overall, full-time tenure-track faculty are eligible for a maximum of $1200 of University funds for national conferences or $1400 for international conferences; temporary faculty are eligible for a maximum of $800. Temporary faculty who have taught for 3 or more years will be eligible for funding at tenure track levels. However, the FPDC requires that the first $300 of these amounts must be supplied by the department, Dean, other funding source or applicant. Therefore, the FPDC will award up to $900 for national conferences and $1100 for international conferences, after the first $300 has been covered. (Temporary faculty will be awarded up to $500.) For example, if your travel expenses total $900, the FPDC will award you $600 if you are a tenure-track faculty member and $200 if you are a temporary faculty member. You are responsible for funding the first $300 of your expenses.

In order to be considered for these funds, you must submit the completed Application for Financial Support for Presentation at National and International Conferences , a copy of your University Travel Authorization form (available from your departmental secretary), a 100-150 word abstract of your paper, and a copy of documentation certifying acceptance of your paper and justification and breakdown of costs.

You may apply for a travel grant at any time until the deadline.  You can only apply for one travel grant per fiscal (academic) year. Please refer to the application for additional guidelines. Forms are available at this site by clicking on the Application link or from the FPDC chair.

As part of your travel grant, you must submit a one-page report to the FPDC upon completion of the presentation. Failure to do so may result in the loss of ability to receive future travel grants. This report should be submitted within 30 days of the presentation.
