During the early years of Lock Haven, instead of the title of President, the governing figure of the school was the Principal. The first Principal at Central Normal, who was also professor of teaching theory and practice, was Albert Raub. Not only was he the first Principal, but he also developed and helped bring the idea of a Normal School in Lock Haven to fruition. Today Raub is honored on campus with his own building.
