On Tuesday, February 16, 1943, forty Lock Haven State Teachers College boys, mostly athletes, left for service in World War II. They all belonged to the Army Reserves. Eight of them played college basketball, four boxed, four wrestled and nine of them played football. As a result, the school cut the basketball, boxing and wrestling seasons short that year.
