The following are the sources of statistical data that have proven very helpful to students of communication media in the past:

The Pennsylvania State Data Center (PaSDC)

The Pennsylvania State Data Center (PaSDC) is the official source for demographic and economic data for Pennsylvania.

U.S. Census Bureau

http://www.census.gov
The U.S. Census Bureau is the primary source of statistical information on the American population. Statistics on state and local governments, manufacturers, and a variety of other topics are also collected by the Bureau and offered at the site.

 

Statistical Abstract of the United States(Print Source)

Call Number: Reference HA 202 [year] (Current edition shelved at the Reference Desk)
Published by the U.S. Census Bureau, the Statistical Abstract serves as "... the standard summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States"

Provides abstracts of major articles, reports, and books in the areas of general communication, mass communication, advertising and marketing, broadcasting, communication theory, interpersonal and intrapersonal communication, small group communication, organizational communication, journalism, public relations, radio, public opinion, speech, and television.

EBSCOHost Academic Search Premier (Online Database)

Database covering a diverse array of disciplines including the social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies. Many of the articles included in the database are available full text.

InfoTrac OneFile(Online Database)

Like EBSCOHost, the InfoTrac OneFile database indexes magazine and journal articles covering a variety of subject areas with many available full text.

Lexis-Nexis Academic (Online Database)

The database offers predominantly full text access to news, business, legal, and reference materials from the United States and around the world.
