In continuous existence since 1979, the Band Alumni
Organization is one of the most active and supportive alumni groups at
the University. All former members of LHU/LHSC/LHSTC Bands are
invited to participate. Our goals are:
- providing a social organization for all former
members of the LHU/LHSC Bands;
- promoting continuous membership, leadership, and
dedication to the LHU Band by developing annual awards for
members of the Band; and
- providing financial support to the LHU Band
through scholarships/awards and donations.
Band Alumni Social Activities include:
- Summer Sieg get-together annually over the July 4 holiday
week/weekend;
- LHU Homecoming (even years the Alumni Band performs at
half-time with the active LHU Band), every year dozens of former
band members gather for a brief business meeting and multiple
informal social events
- Next Alumni Band performance will
be Homecoming 2004 - plan now to participate!
- Spring Fling - usually scheduled in conjunction with the
active Band's annual President's Concert (April/May)

Band Alumni Awards and Scholarships - the organization has
fully funded two endowed funds to provide the following awards and
scholarships. Additional contributions toward these funds are
encouraged so that we can provide a higher level of support to the
Band members who demonstrate a financial need and meet the award
criteria.
- Dr. Florentino J. Caimi "Excellence in Music" Award - was
established to honor Dr. Caimi for his enthusiastic leadership of
the University Bands and ensembles for 20 years, as well as his
dedication to teaching and music performance. Criteria:
full-time junior music major currently performing in the LHU
Marching Band and one other major ensemble in the Music Department.
- LHU Band Alumni Service Award - was established to
recognize junior or seniors band members who have demonstrated above
average service to the Band, as recommended by the Director.
Financial Support to the Band - over the years the Band
Alumni Organization has supported many varied needs of the Band, such
as contributions toward the cost of commissioned music; donation of
band front equipment/flags; purchase of a banner; snacks for band
members during band camp or at half-time of a football game.
Officers - are elected from the organization's membership
every other year for terms of two years. Current officers are:
