It is my privilege to work with the students and their parents who are seeking a special learning opportunity. For many of our students, they are the first member of their family to attend a college or university. All of the student life staff places a special emphasis on being concerned about your personal progress and achieving a University degree. We hope that you will agree with us that going to college is a personal challenge with many rewards both now and in the future.
In order to assist students and their families, we provide a special new student orientation program during the third week in June each year. We know that students who attend this program achieve a higher grade point average and are more likely to succeed. The student life staff and carefully selected faculty members deal with new students and their parents during this twenty-four hour program. Like many television programs, we present LHU and its staff, "up close and personal." Students and their parents attend classes, learn about campus services, meet with academic advisors and view their first semester class schedule. We accommodate students in a residence hall and parents also live in Russell Hall during this time.
Achieving a college degree is one of the most important things a student can hope for and plan to accomplish. It takes more than going to class; it takes a commitment from the whole family. Lock Haven University works with you in identifying solutions to difficulties that you encounter. In order to do that, we need everyone's cooperation. Call, write, or e-mail us through the directories you will receive when you attend our June Orientation Program, our Student Handbook, or our web site Student Affairs. |
