LHU Student Creates Anti-Bullying Program

Lock Haven University

Lock Haven is a proud sponsor of anti-bullying  and assisting students that are looking for a place to go for guidance and comfort. One person felt that she needed to start a program that would help these students deal with the affects of being bullied. As a prospective student, weighing and measuring the opportunities at various universities, remember to ask youself,  “How do I want to Make a Difference.”

Founder of the Anti-Bullying Program

Hello my name is Ashley Hopple and I am a junior here at Lock Haven University. I created Lock Haven University’s first Anti-bullying Campaign! I started this campaign after seeing so many young lives being lost due to the amount of bullying in schools and/or communities. Ever since 6th grade I was bullied every day for numerous reasons and I know what it’s like to feel that pain that you begin to hate yourself and I don’t want anyone to feel that way because no one deserves it.

My first event started in November 2011 and it was such an amazing turn out that I decided to further this campaign. I began to take the campaign into local schools and to continue with more events here at LHU. The main mission of this campaign is to spread awareness and to be the voice for those who can’t speak up for themselves. I want to provide everyone the love and support and for them to know that they are not alone in this. Students everywhere starting in elementary and continuing into college are being bullied for being who they are and this campaign promotes being yourself and loving who you are no matter what others say. The Anti-bullying Campaign provides hope to all in the community.
