Recycle, Reuse, and Renew is a concept that we all think about. How can we take something and repurpose it. Abiding by that concept, the Art of the Natural World Exhibit came up with the Recycle Reuse Renew Exhibit. The concept was to take an item, recycle it into a piece of art instead of the item making its way to the landfill. Many people came up with some clever ideas, such as turning an old window pane into a frame, old shirts into new shirts, and using old dog food bags to make handbags. The exhibit was viewed by many local school groups, college students, and faculty.
At the end of the tour students from surrounding elementary schools would participate in a one on one project that relates to the exhibit they just toured. The students made recycled paper!! They each would receive a certain amount of pureed paper that was taken from the paper recycling bins around campus. They would then put it in a screen press and use sponges to soak up the water. Once it was pressed and dry they had a sheet of recycled paper to take home with them. This show just like the previous year had proved to be a success.
