
Mathematics Competition for High School Students
is scheduled for Thursday November 18, 2010.
Department of Mathematics at Lock Haven University has scheduled its third annual Math Competition for high school students on November 18, 2010. This competition is open to all high school students (grade 9 through 12) in Pennsylvania and neighboring states. We are excited to welcome all the participants of this event in November 2010.
Overview:
The Competition will be a written exam, and will consist of two parts. The first part will be an individual effort and students will be asked to solve 10 multiple-choice questions with one written tie breaker. The second part will be a group component (3 students per team) working on 6 written response questions.
Math competition is divided into two levels. First level will consist of grade 9 and grade 10 students and the second level will have grade 11 and grade 12 students. Students will compete within their level.
There will be no restriction on the number of students entered by each school. The Winners of this competition will be awarded prizes and certificates. All the participants will get a T-shirt with LHU Department of Mathematics logo.
