tables for the two
reactions.
- Compare the two sets of IR and NMR
spectra obtained for the base- and acid-promoted reactions. Using
the spectra, identify the structures of the compounds formed in
each reaction. Outline mechanistic pathways to account for the
formation of both products isolated in this
experiment.
