PSECU Scholarship and Dell Award for PASSHE Transfer Students
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven University student Vanessa Peterson, a transfer student from Luzerne County Community College, was awarded the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union Scholarship (PSECU) for 2013. Funded by PSECU, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) established the scholarship to recognize and reward transfer students who have become an important component of the student population at PASSHE universities.
The scholarship is awarded to a transfer students who graduated with an associate degree from a Pennsylvania Community College, a member of Phi Theta Kappa/Honors Program or those who earned a GPA of 3.25 or higher, and whom also had financial need, were eligible to apply for the scholarship. “PSECU recognizes the importance of education as well as the escalating costs for families. We thank them for helping PASSHE students embrace their possibilities,” said Dr. Fiorentino, President of Lock Haven University.
Vanessa, a native of Larksville, PA, graduated from Luzerne County Community College with an associate’s degree in May of 2013, with a GPA of 3.9. She transferred to Lock Haven University with the intentions of pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in writing. Vanessa was also presented with the Dell Award, which was a Dell Latitude 10 tablet, also provided by the PASSHE Foundation.
