LHU announces nominees for 2012 President’s Award
Recognition of distinguished service on women’s issues

Lock Haven University is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2012 President’s Award for Distinguished Service on Women’s Issues.
The President’s Award for Distinguished Service on Women’s Issues, formerly the Woman of Distinction Award, honors men and women who, in service to the university and community, are notable for actively advancing women’s issues in accordance with the spirit, mission and goals of the President’s Commission on the Statius of Women (PCSW).
There are three award categories: student, staff and faculty. All award winners’ names will be displayed in the Stevenson Library. Each winner will also receive an individual plaque and a monetary award. The student award will be presented during Spring Convocation, April 15. Faculty and staff awards will be presented at the President’s open fall meeting.
Faculty nominees are Associate Professor Lynn Bruner, Psychology Department; Assistant Professor Gayatri Devi, English Department; Professor Marjorie Maddox Hafer and Assistant Professor Dana Washington, English Department (joint nomination); and Athletics Director Sharon Taylor.
Staff nominees are Susan Birdsey, secretary, Academic Development and Counseling Department; and Cynthia Merryman, police supervisor, Public Safety Office.
Student nominees are senior Caitlin Chciuk, junior Heather Cottage and graduate student Alicia Perrelli.
The 2010 nominees were announced on March 22 at “Let Her Voice Be Heard,” a reading and reception celebrating the voices and visions of diverse women. “Let Her Voice Be Heard” was sponsored by the President's Commission on the Status of Women and the HOPE Center.
