On Tuesday, April 10, Lock Haven University’s New Life Student Fellowship hosted a fundraiser to raise awareness of human trafficking. Students strung 2,700 white flags on campus, each flag representing 10,000 victims of human trafficking. According to officials of the 2012 Passion Conference, there are 27 million victims of human trafficking, including slavery and the sex trade. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Russell Lawn, passersby were able to read stories of real men, women, and children held captive for labor, trade, and sex. At 7 p.m., New Life hosted a screening of “Freedom: Indifference is Not an Option,” a film about human trafficking.
