TurnKey Electric Inc. endows scholarship for LHU students
March 9, 2012
The Lock Haven University Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of a new endowed scholarship—The TurnKey Electric Student Scholarship. The fund has been established with a $50,000 gift from TurnKey Electric Inc., and the fund will support students enrolled in the Physician Assistant Program.
Dr. George Durrwachter, current LHU Council of Trustees member and former LHU Foundation President, praised TurnKey Electric Owner and longtime friend Mr. Michael E. Bower, “Your commitment to support scholarship aid for students is a very admirable commitment.”
TurnKey Electric Inc., located in Williamsport, PA, is a commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical contractor. TurnKey Electric has a strong presence on the LHU Campus and this endowed fund shows a commitment to the Community that goes beyond their work for the University. TurnKey Electrical Manager Rich Zerby has worked closely with the facilities department and the LHU Foundation on multiple projects, including the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center; the current project, Fairview Suites; and is looking forward to beginning work on the new Science Center. Paula Kistler, Director of Foundation Operations, states, “TurnKey Electric and Rich Zerby are respected by everyone involved in our building project and this scholarship donation will only increase their standing on campus.”
“TurnKey Electric’s gift is one of what we trust will be a series of new gifts to support student scholarships at LHU,” stated Lock Haven University President Michael Fiorentino Jr. “This gift is a positive sign; with ongoing budget cuts from the state, private dollars can bridge the gap and keep public higher education affordable. Building partnerships with business, with industry and with alumni is a key to the future of higher education.” Lock Haven University and the LHU Foundation have long been assets to the local economy. Fairview Suites, which is a new 680 bed facility which will provide the first new on campus living option since the 1970’s, is the most recent example of this partnership.
The Foundation administers approximately 200 individual scholarships for students at the University. Applicants are encouraged to apply for scholarships through the Foundation’s website, www.lhufoundation.org, or by contacting the Foundation at the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center, 10 Susquehanna Avenue, Lock Haven, Pennsylvania 17745.
