LHU professor to give public presentation on research project
February 22, 2012
At 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, Lock Haven University Professor Janet Irons will give a presentation, “Women’s History in the Digital Age,” in the Community Room of Ross Library in Lock Haven.
Dr. Irons, professor and chair of the LHU department of History, Political Science, Economics, Geography and Foreign Languages, has been intensively involved in the last five years with a project jointly sponsored by Lycoming College, the Lycoming County Historical Society and the James V. Brown Library in Williamsport to bring together materials that tell the story of women in Lycoming County History. The project is well advanced, with hundreds of documents online in a searchable database. In the process, those involved learned a history of women in central Pennsylvania that has heretofore been unknown.
This free public event is sponsored by the AAUW (American Association of University Women). The AAUW (American Association of University Women) is an organization dedicated to the promotion of education and equity in education. The Lock Haven Chapter is active in promoting education in Clinton County.
