LHU announces commencement speaker


1970 alumnus will deliver address to graduates

Mr. Stephen C. Tweed, Lock Haven University class of 1970, will be the featured speaker at the university’s commencement ceremonies, May 11 and 12, 2012. Commencement for the College of Education and Human Services will take place in Thomas Fieldhouse on Friday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. Commencement for the College of Arts and Sciences will take place on Saturday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are required for both ceremonies.

Stephen Tweed is president and CEO of Leading Home Care, a virtual corporation which specializes in providing ideas, information and expert resources to executives of home care companies in three specific areas: business development, leadership development, and Private Duty Home Care.

A Certified Speaking Professional, Mr. Tweed is a frequent speaker at corporate meetings and association conventions in the health care industry.  He is the author of “Strategic Focus: A Gameplan for Developing Your Competitive Advantage,” and co-author of six books specifically written for the home health care industry.  He is also the editor and publisher of Stephen Tweed’s Home Care Report, the leading electronic newsletter for the home health care industry, and publisher of Private Duty Today, the largest e-newsletter for owners of non-medical home care companies.  In addition, he is a frequent contributing editor to leading home care periodicals.

In addition to his roles of strategist, speaker, author and consultant, Stephen Tweed wears two more healthcare hats: board member and consumer.  He has served on the boards of directors of three home care companies and as the interim president and CEO of a $25 million, 400 employee home care company.

He is the father of a 37 year old son who is physically disabled, lives in a wheelchair and uses the service of private duty home health care on a daily basis.
