LHU Symphonic Band to perform in concert

Feb. 23, 2012

The Lock Haven University Symphonic Band will perform in concert on Thursday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Price Performance Center. This is a free public event.

The program will include a variety of selections, including a polka, a march and an overture. The performance will showcase works by Mozart and Scranton, Pennsylvania composer Vaclav Nelhybel.

Conductor John R. Schmidt, associate professor of music, extended his personal invitation to the community and commented on the power of a live performance. "I am pleased with the balance of the instrumentation this semester in the band,” he said.  “In our culture of so much recorded music, listening to a live concert is as thrilling as it gets, particularly when listening to the strains of a concert march."

The concert has been rescheduled from its original date of March 8.
