ASN Program FAQs
Q1. What is the application deadline for the Associate Degree in Nursing?
A1. Your complete application must be to Clearfield admissions by mid December. (Complete means online application; transcripts from high school, tech schools, and any colleges you attended; and a resume) Actual dates will be posted on the nursing website every year.
Q2. How many times am I permitted to take the TEAS entrance exam?
A2. You are allowed 2 times ONLY.
Q3. What criteria are used for the nursing department admission process?
A3. The acceptance into the nursing program is based on a “point” system. The “points” are based on your GPA, results of your TEAS exam, Pre-requisite course grades, specialty areas, and your interview.
Q4. How many students are accepted into the Nursing program and how often
A4. Presently, every fall the nursing program accepts 50 students with the highest points.
Q5. How long is the waiting list for applicants not admitted to the nursing program?
A5. The waiting list has 15 students on it.
Q6. What if I don’t get accepted into the Nursing Program the first time?
A6. You can try again every year.
Q7. How many times am I permitted to take Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology’s
HLTH128, HLTH129, HLTH130 and HLTH131?
A7. You must achieve a grade of “C” or better and you must be successful after two attempts. A grade of C- is not acceptable.
Q8. How many times can I repeat a class to get the required C in sciences?
A8. 2 times
Q9. How many times may I apply for the nursing program?
A9. You may apply any number of times, but once you are accepted and begin in the program, you may only be readmitted to the program one additional whether you failed out or took a leave of absence.
Q10. Can I complete the program in 2 years or will it take me longer?
A10. It is possible to complete the ASN Nursing program in 2 years. Some students may take longer if they decide to complete general education courses prior to entering the program.
Q11. Where will I travel for clinicals?
A11. Travel is necessary to provide a diverse clinical population and to ensure an adequate patient census. You may travel within a 50 mile radius from the campus.
Q12. What is a multicultural hour?
A12. Each student must complete 20 hours of multicultural experiences in addition to their general education and nursing courses. Additional details are available in he Nursing Program Guide.
Q13. How many nursing course credits will I receive for my ASN/Diploma?
A13. A block of 34 credits will be awarded towards your 120 credit Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
