President's Commission on the Status of Women

The Lock Haven University President's Commission on the Status of Women was created in 2001. The mission statement can be found by clicking here or on the Mission button. The Commission holds meetings once a month in the Bentley dining hall. Membership is open to all Lock Haven University faculty, staff, and students. The mission of the Lock Haven Commission on the Status of Women involves several goals:

  • Provide a supportive campus climate for women in the classroom and employment settings

  • Provide leadership in fostering an environment that encourages discussion of and attention to sex equity issues

  • Review effective policies that address the problem of sexual harassment

  • Review University policies for their effect on minority women and majority women

  • Identify and correct inequities that may exist in hiring, promotion, tenure, and salary for women faculty, staff, and administrators

  • Initiate a campus values inventory intended to examine value issues that prevent the inclusion of women in certain areas of University life
