Top 100 central Pa. business leaders honored at LHU

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Miss American Coed 2008, Cynthia Martinez, delivered the keynote address at the 4th annual Top 100 Award Luncheon hosted by Pennsylvania Business Central and Lock Haven University. The luncheon was held in the ballroom of Lock Haven’s Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center on May 16.

Martinez, a 2006 graduate of Lock Haven University, described how her years of training for pageant competition gave her the poise and confidence to succeed in business. She also credited her college education. “Lock Haven gave the right tools and taught me how to use them.” Martinez is a marketing coordinator for a software company in Wilmington, Delaware and is pursuing an MBA in marketing at Goldey-Beacom College.

The awards luncheon recognized 100 leaders in central Pennsylvania from business and higher education. The program stated that “Pennsylvania Business Central is proud to honor those who have made an extraordinary difference in the region.” Scott Eldredge, director of web development for Lock Haven University, was among those honored in the program. Award winners were Congressman John Peterson, Entrepreneurial Hero Award; The Pennsylvania College of Technology, Economic Development Award; The Hartman Group, Small Business Award; Phyllis Bandstra, Women/Minority Award; and Intelmarx, Young and Upcoming Award.

Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in the commonwealth. Its 14 universities offer more than 250 degree and certificate programs in more than 120 areas of study. Nearly 405,000 system alumni live and work in Pennsylvania.
