Creamer appointed dean of LHU's Institute for International Studies

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven University has appointed Jennifer M. Creamer to be the new dean of the Institute for International Studies, starting May 5.

Creamer comes to LHU from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA where she served as Director of International Studies from 2003 to the present. At Moravian, she worked with incoming international students and outgoing study abroad students as well as coordinated programming and events that furthered Moravian's international mission. Creamer has been involved in some aspect of international education for over 20 years with experiences studying abroad in Mexico and Japan in high school, college, and graduate school, teaching English conversation in Japan, and serving as program director/translator for visiting Japanese students to the U.S. In addition, Creamer worked for five years as a field archaeologist all over the west coast of the U.S. and in the Hawaiian Islands and Guam.

Roger Johnson, interim provost, said, “Dr. Creamer brings high enthusiasm and fresh ideas to her new position of leadership at Lock Haven University. I appreciate her scholarship in the field of anthropology as well as her solid experience in international studies, and I look forward to working with her to provide even more learning opportunities for our students and faculty.”

Creamer received her Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, focusing her research on the study abroad experiences of Japanese women. She received a Bachelor of the Arts in Anthropology and East Asian Studies from Colby College, Waterville, ME.
