LHU holds annual Model United Nations event

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven University played host to 261 high school students who participated in a Model United Nations on Thursday and Friday, April 10 and 11. Delegates included students from Williamsport High School, Central Mountain High School, Bellefonte High School, and Jersey Shore High School. Thirty-one schools from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and the Washington D.C. area were invited to attend.

Student delegates represented U.N. member nations and simulated the U.N. General Assembly as they presented their countries’ positions, debated issues, and worked together in committees. Lock Haven political science professors Lawrence T. Farley and Andrew J. Musila organized the event. Students in Farley’s course on the United Nations and International Organizations served as hosts and facilitators.

Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in the commonwealth. Its 14 universities offer more than 250 degree and certificate programs in more than 120 areas of study. Nearly 405,000 system alumni live and work in Pennsylvania.
