Public invited to LHU's Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center Open House

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The general public is invited to the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center Open House on the Lock Haven University campus on Friday, April 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The newly-completed alumni conference center, named for lead donors Dr. George A. and Shirley Durrwachter, now houses university admissions with expanded meeting spaces, the university’s Development offices and the LHU Foundation. For alumni, it has a number of meeting and conference rooms, including the Fredericks Family Library that has books and publications authored by alumni and faculty, and there areas of recognition of service to the university and several social areas. The conference center also has a multipurpose room available for rent by appointment that can seat approximately 300 people, along with smaller conference rooms. Construction of the alumni conference center was made possible through individual, corporate, community and alumni class donations.

The public is invited to walk through the facility, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for 6:45 p.m. Vegetable and cheese crudités and beverages will be served.

Representatives from the Alumni, Development and Foundation offices will be on hand to greet the public and answer questions.

“We look forward to welcoming members of the public to the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center and showing them this state-of-the-art facility, made possible by community support both on and off of campus,” said Paula Kistler, fiscal officer for the LHU Foundation. “The building is a needed addition to the growing LHU campus that will serve many important purposes, and it is a great addition to the City of Lock Haven and Clinton County.”
