LHU to host nanotechnology speaker

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven University will host a presentation on nanotechnology in Ulmer Planetarium on April 4 at 8 p.m. Dr. Stephen Fornash will deliver the keynote address for the American Association of Physics Teachers, Central Pennsylvania Section, which will be meeting on the Lock Haven campus.

Fornash’s speech will provide an introduction to nanotechnology and will explore some of its practical applications in the everyday world. Fornash will discuss nanotechnology’s far-reaching impact on industry and the workforce and its effect on secondary and post-secondary science education in Pennsylvania, the U.S. and the world.

A nationally known leader in nanotechnology in education and workforce development, Fornash is the author of one book, co-author of 28 patents and over 300 articles, and co-founder of two companies. He is principle investigator for the National Science Foundation Advanced Technology Education Center and the Bayard D. Kunkle Chair in Engineering Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University, where he also serves as the director of the Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization.
