Wrestling run-walk promises Halloween fun for LHU and community

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -

On October 31, Lock Haven University Wrestling will sponsor a 10K Run-Walk with a Halloween twist. All participants must be in costume!

The First Annual LHU Wrestling Halloween 10K Run-Walk will take place starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31. The race will begin at the university’s football stadium, and end at Hanna Park. Registration will take place at the stadium at 8:00 a.m. The route goes through the LHU campus, onto the river dike, down to the end of the dike, and back up to Hanna Park.

Members of the LHU wrestling team will be helping with the event and participating in the race. Of course, they will be in costume.

According to Associate Head Coach Robbie Waller, "This event is a great way to provide our wrestlers as well as the community with a fun atmosphere to promote a healthy activity while supporting the Lock Haven University wrestling program. Our team is looking forward to joining our supporters on October 31st for a little Halloween excitement!"

For those who pre-register for the run-walk no later than Thursday, October 29, the registration fee is $20. For those who register at the stadium on the morning of the event, the entry fee is $25. Registration forms are available from Wally Kocher, director of athletics operations, at 570-484-2647 or dkocher@lhup.edu.

Prizes of $75, $50 and $25 gift certificates to an area restaurant will be awarded to the top three costumes. All participants finishing the run-walk will receive a commemorative T-shirt.

A free Kids’ Fun Run will take place at Hanna Park immediately following the 10K Run-Walk. This fun-run is open to children age 8 and younger. Prizes will be awarded.

Proceeds will benefit the LHU wrestling program scholarship fund.
