Registration open for LHU winter intersession

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Registration is now open for Lock Haven University’s Intersession courses. The session will run from December 21, 2009 to January 8, 2010. All courses are web-based and carry 3 credits.

Students can choose from nine courses: Introduction to Criminal Justice, World Regional Geography, Anatomy and Physiology 1, Wellness for Life, Introduction to Music, American National Government, Life Span development, Leisure/Wellness/Personal Lifestyle, and Introduction to Sociology.

Students can take advantage of the LHU’s first-ever intersession to catch up or get ahead, or to raise their grade-point averages. Associate dean Marianne Hazel noted that earning credits during the intersession can help students to graduate on time.

Jill Mitchley, Registrar, added, “Online courses enable students to study from home, and they can make very good use of their holiday break. Individuals interested in this opportunity should keep in mind that this is a three-week, on-line session which does require students to have good study habits. Students should be prepared to put in sufficient time to complete course requirements.” Both Hazel and Mitchley urged interested students to visit the university’s website and to register online as soon as possible, as classes may fill up quickly.

Students matriculated at other colleges and universities are also eligible to take LHU’s online intersession courses.

The Office of Academic Technology collaborated with the dean of the College of Education and Human Services, the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and registrar to make a reality the first winter intersession a reality.

More information on course offerings, requirements, registration and fees is available on the Lock Haven University website www.lhup.edu or by contacting the Registrar’s Office at 570-484-2006.
