Associate Dean Marianne E. Hazel

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -
Dr. Marianne E. Hazel has assumed the position of associate dean at Lock Haven University.
Hazel, who has been at Lock Haven since 2002, has both teaching and administrative experience. Her fields of expertise are leadership, mentoring, elementary education, reading, school administration, and curriculum and instruction.
As associate dean, Hazel works with the deans of the College of Arts and Science and the College of Education and Human Services. Her responsibilities include overseeing college budgets and coordinating department assessment and accreditation efforts.
Interim Provost Roger Johnson noted that Hazel’s appointment comes at an important time for the university: “I am glad that the university has been able to fill a vital position that has remained vacant for two years. Dr. Hazel is ideally suited to serve as associate dean, particularly as we enter a period of institutional re-accreditation and positive change in the process of teacher certification. The academic deans and I appreciate her willingness to accept the challenges before us. We look forward to working with her as we all strive to provide Lock haven University students with the best possible education.”
Hazel commented, “I have enormous pride in Lock Haven University, and I am honored to be able to work with and to learn from our talented faculty, who maintain high standards of academic excellence, and our dedicated administrators, who are role models for me.”
Dr. Hazel earned her B.S. in Elementary and Kindergarten Education and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the Pennsylvania State University. She earned her M.S. in Administration from McDaniel College and her D.Ed. from Immaculata University.
