LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Thirteen members of the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania faculty have been promoted for the 2008-2009 academic year. The promotions were made after a lengthy evaluation process and were conducted in compliance with the faculty collective bargaining agreement and the LHU promotion policy.
LHU Interim Provost Dr. Roger Johnson described the academic ranks as follows: “The four ranks of faculty at Lock Haven University – instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, and professor – are carefully defined to indicate a faculty member’s academic credentials, increasing professional expertise, and contribution to the university’s mission. Promotion is one of our most rigorous and competitive processes. Promotion to the ultimate rank of professor is perhaps the highest honor than the university community can bestow upon a colleague.” Johnson went on to add, “Congratulations to all who were recently promoted and to those who have mentored and supported them, and special congratulations to those who have achieved the highest possible rank, professor.”
Promoted to full professor are Dr. Anura U. Goonewardene, geology and physics; and Dr. Stephen C. Marvel, biological sciences.
Promoted to associate professor are Dr. Kathleen Allison, health sciences; Dr. Timothy Baylor, sociology, anthropology, and social work; Dr. Jessica B. Hosley, graduate studies; Dr. Annik Kerzberg, foreign languages; Dr. Julie A. Lammel, recreation management; Dr. Dwayne Marshall, criminal justice; Dr. Brent D. May, chemistry; Dr. Eduardo M.
