LHU to host artist reception

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The public is invited to an artist reception in conjunction with the current art exhibit in the Sloan Fine Arts Gallery on the Lock Haven University campus. The reception will be 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10 in the Sloan Gallery.

The art exhibit showcases the work of artist Jason Godeke. Godeke's work includes pastels, charcoal, oil on canvas and mixed mediums. Godeke finds his themes in personal experience, myths, and historical events. He says, "I am interested in creating a tension between a traditional, attractive forms and specific, sometimes disturbing subject matter. The challenge for me is to bring contemporary relevance to a timeworn mode of representation."

Godeke grew up in California and did his junior year of high school in the Netherlands. He did his undergraduate studies at Yale University and earned his MFA from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

This free event is sponsored by the Lock Haven University Art Department in cooperation with the LHU Student Cooperative Council.

The exhibit runs through October 3. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
