Philosophy professor receives LHU faculty scholarship award

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Daniel C. Shaw, professor of Philosophy and Film at Lock Haven University, has been presented the 2008 Faculty Scholarship Award. Roger Johnson, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, presented the award at LHU’s opening meeting on August 21 in Price Performance Center.

The nominating committee described Shaw as a respected member of the philosophy department and cited his contribution to his discipline through numerous publications and presentations. He has also developed a number of new courses. The committee added, “Most recently, Dr. Shaw has completed a book entitled ‘Film and Philosophy: Taking Movies Seriously’ and he also serves as the managing editor of ‘Film and Philosophy,’ the journal of the Society for the Philosophic Study of the Contemporary Visual Arts. His commitment to scholarship has made Dr. Shaw an invaluable member of LHU.”
