LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - In keeping with the spirit of Lock Haven University’s All-Steinway initiative, the Fredericks Family Guest House at 55 West Main Street is now home to an 1873 Steinway Square Grand Piano. The piano is a gift from Keith O. Barrows, LHU director of development, and his wife Carol.
The piano was delivered on September 17 and placed in the parlor of the guest house. The building, circa 1888, is part of Lock Haven’s architectural heritage and is featured in the book “Historic Lock Haven: An Architectural Survey,” published by the Clinton County Historical Society. The guest house is decorated with original 19th and early 20th century furnishings and artwork. “The piano is an authentic period piece appropriate to the setting,” said Barrows.
The Fredericks Family Guest House was donated to the Lock Haven University Foundation in 1993 by Carol Fredericks and her husband, Samuel H. Fredericks, Jr., to be used as a guest house for distinguished visitors of the university.
Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State
