LHU senior receives scholarship

LHU senior Christina Yingling

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Christina Yingling, a senior elementary education major at Lock Haven University, has been awarded a $2000 scholarship from the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Criteria for a PASCD tuition grant include scholarship, written expression of interest in the teaching profession, written expression of issues facing education, references, and extra activities and the impact of the activities on the student. Yingling carries a 4.0 GPA while completing 450 hours of community service through AmeriCorps. She is treasurer of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Secretary of Kappa Delta Pi, and student Vice President of Phi Kappa Phi.

Yingling will do her student teaching at the Chester A. Arthur Elementary School in Philadelphia. Yingling said, “The financial support of this scholarship is going to be a big help to me as I move to Philadelphia to complete my student teaching.” She added, “It means a lot to me that PASCD recognized my hard work and accomplishments, and they believe in my potential as a future educator.”

Yingling is a resident of Dover, Pa. Her parents are Angela Gerrick and Timothy Yingling.
