LHU PA Program sponsors 5K Fun Run/Walk April 4

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Rain or shine, the Lock Haven University Physician Assistant Program will hold its 6th annual 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 4, 2009. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at Huber Jack Stadium.

In addition, the Class of 2010 will be collecting old cell phones and canned goods to benefit the Clinton County Women’s Shelter. All donations will be appreciated, from 5K participants and non-participants alike. Those who cannot attend can contact one of the 5K organizers to arrange for pick-up of phones or canned goods.

Proceeds from the 5K Fun Run/Walk will benefit Sisters Place, Inc. Located in Clairton, Pa., Sisters Place is a supportive housing community committed to assisting single parent families who are homeless in Southwestern Pennsylvania. It provides housing and support services to single mothers and their children. Sisters Place seeks to address the fundamental needs of their client families, helping them to overcome obstacles and achieve stability. Services include safe, affordable, and decent housing; child care and after-school programming; and education and job training to develop careers and job potential.

The four age groups for the 5K Fun Run/Walk are: 18 and under, 19-25, 26-40, and 41 +. Awards will be given to the overall top male and female, the top male and female walkers, and first-place finishers in each age group. The registration fee for the 5K Fun Run/Walk is $12.00.
